Orwellian America: 9/11 and the Road to Iran

I wonder how many Americans would have predicted a mere decade ago that they would be living in a country that was in a permanent state of war?

Everyone knows that these endless wars, while disastrous to ordinary people and economies, have been very profitable to select groups; groups with close access to the White House, and which have no incentive to end the bloodletting any time soon.

The funny thing about 9/11 is that when you get people alone to discuss it, they are often quite willing to agree that the official explanation of events just doesn’t cut it. I think that if 9/11 had occurred elsewhere in the world – say Beijing – the American media and power structure would point out that the official version of events did not comport with the facts as we have come to understand them.

Out-Foxing Fox: Times Totes Water for War Crime Spin

We have often noted here the special role that New York Times reporter Michael Gordon plays in the national media. For years, he has served as a key conduit for government propaganda aimed at fomenting military aggression, then justifying it once it has begun. In many ways, he has probably been a far more effective tool of the militarists than the Fox News network.

But nonetheless, with Gordon's help, the narrative of the surge's "success" marches on. An anti-American cleric grants government troops permission to enter areas controlled by his militia – and this is ballyhooed as a triumph. Meanwhile, Gordon does not neglect his drumbeating duties in the push for war with Iran: the story is laced with unqualified references to mysterious "Iranian-backed militias" which, we're told, skulked away from Sadr City when al-Maliki flexed his muscles. Readers of the New York Times – and those disseminators of its conventional wisdom further down the media food chain – cannot be allowed to forget that Iraq is seething with perfidious Persia's evil agents, killing Americans in cold blood. Gordon actually shows some restraint in not ending every article with a stirring cry of "Furthermore, Iran delenda est!"

Israel’s “Free Press”? Broken pencils, broken bones and broken lives of reporters

More than 250 breaches of freedom of journalism happened in the Occupied Territories by Israeli forces during 2007. And the Palestinian territories under Israel’s occupation ranked last year at number 158 in the annual World Press Freedom out of 169 countries. How does this match with your claim of Israel’s free press?

CIA Protects Al-Qaeda Group From Extradition

The CIA is protecting an Al-Qaeda linked terror group formerly headed by the alleged mastermind of 9/11 from being extradited to Iran according to an ABC News report, which also reveals that U.S. intelligence has been meeting and advising the group that has been blamed for bombings in Iran.

TVNL Comment: The CIA has to protect their own. The question is not whether or not al Qaeda is a terrorist organization; the question is "who is al Qaeda and who controls them!"

A Magnesium Deficiency Increases Cancer Risk Significantly

Without sufficient magnesium, the body accumulates toxins and acid residues, degenerates rapidly, and ages prematurely. It goes against a gale wind of medical science to ignore magnesium chloride used transdermally in the treatment of any chronic or acute disorder, especially cancer.

Howard Zinn: Anarchism Shouldn't Be a Dirty Word

The term anarchism has become associated with two phenomena with which real anarchists don't want to associate themselves with. One is violence, and the other is disorder or chaos. The popular conception of anarchism is on the one hand bomb-throwing and terrorism, and on the other hand no rules, no regulations, no discipline, everybody does what they want, confusion, etc. That is why there is a reluctance to use the term anarchism.

States Seize Citizens' Property to Balance Their Budgets

The 50 U.S. states are holding more than $32 billion worth of unclaimed property that they're supposed to safeguard for their citizens.

Unclaimed property consists of things like forgotten apartment security deposits, uncashed dividend checks and safe-deposit boxes abandoned when an elderly relative dies.

Banks and other businesses are required to turn that property over to the state for safekeeping. The problem is that the states return less than a quarter of unclaimed property to the rightful owners.

Ventura Slams Media Witch Hunt For Questioning 9/11

Former Governor Jesse Ventura slammed the media witch hunt that he was subjected to in the wake of questioning the official 9/11 story and admitted that he was shocked by the reaction to his comments about the demolition of WTC 7 and the twin towers, but the ex-wrestling and movie star reiterated and expanded upon his views on 9/11 during an appearance on The Alex Jones Show.

"How come we're not allowed to ask any questions today?" asked Ventura, referring to the hostile corporate media reaction that was elicited in response to his last appearance on The Alex Jones Show when he questioned the official 9/11 story.
