Emirati ambassador to Trump: Remove US airbase from Qatar

Ambassador Yousef al OtaibaThe United Arab Emirates' ambassador to the United States wants President Trump to use the U.S. airbase in Qatar as a political tool to press the country's government on supporting extremism.

“The air base is a very nice insurance policy against any additional pressure,” Ambassador Yousef al-Otaiba said Tuesday. “Maybe someone in Congress should have a hearing and just say, you know, ’Should we consider moving it?’”

Hassan Rouhani wins Iran's presidential election in a landslide

Rouhani wins Iran election in a landslideIran's reformist President Hassan Rouhani has decisively won the country's presidential election, according to official results, fending off a challenge by principlist rival, Ebrahim Raisi.

With all of votes in Friday's poll counted, Rouhani was re-elected with 57 percent, Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmanifazli said on Saturday.

"Of some 41.2 million total votes cast, Rouhani got 23.5 ... and won the election," Rahmanifazli said in remarks carried live by state TV.

Norway arrests asylum seeker in bomb discoveryNorway's security service says a 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with an explosive device found near a busy subway station in Oslo and defused before it detonated.

Signe Aaling, chief prosecutor with the PST security service, said Sunday that the youth was detained on suspicion of handling explosives.

Security service head Benedicte Bjornland says it's unclear if the teen had plans to carry out an attack with the homemade device.

The incident occurred just before 13:00GMT at the corner of the Ahlens department store and Drottninggatan, the city's biggest pedestrian street, above-ground from Stockholm's central subway station.
