For years, President Donald Trump has complained that countries hosting American troops aren’t paying enough. Now he wants to get even, and then some.
Under White House direction, the administration is drawing up demands that Germany, Japan and eventually any other country hosting U.S. troops pay the full price of American soldiers deployed on their soil -- plus 50 percent or more for the privilege of hosting them, according to a dozen administration officials and people briefed on the matter.
Sen. Martha McSally, a 26-year military veteran, said Wednesday that she was raped in the Air Force by a superior officer.
The Arizona Republican spoke at a Senate hearing on the armed services’ prevention of and response to sexual assault, an issue she called “deeply personal.”
McSally did not name the officer who she says raped her, and said she did not report the incident because she was ashamed and confused, and felt powerless.

No Deal on NukesTrump began his second summit with Kim with an eye toward "denuclearization," but one major sticking point between the two sides centered on what that term means. The White House had initially scheduled what it called a "signing ceremony" for Thursday, but Trump indicated Kim had not met U.S. expectations for a commitment to dismantling his nuclear program. The ceremony was cancelled and Trump moved up a scheduled press conference by two hours. He then departed Vietnam ahead of schedule.
A seven-year-old girl who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border with her father last week died after being taken into the custody of the U.S. Border Patrol, federal immigration authorities confirmed Thursday.
An official from Guatemala's foreign ministry identified the girl as Jackeline Caal. The official, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to share information, also identified the girl's 29-year-old father as Nery Caal.
The foreign ministry said Friday that the girl and her father were from an area in northern Guatemala called Raxruha in Alta Verapaz department.
CNN reported that the two men clashed over immigration policy in the wake of a government report that found a record number of migrant families illegally crossed the U.S. border in September.

Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., told MSBNC Tuesday a "Transfer and Reallocation" budget document he obtained outlines the reallocation of funds.
Merkley said the 39-page plan indicates the Department of Homeland Security requested $9.8 million from FEMA accounts. The documents said the money, about nine-tenths of one percent of FEMA's annual budget, would be transferred from FEMA's "Preparedness and Protection" and "Response and Recovery" undertakings to pay for detention beds and ICE's Transportation and Removal Program.
