What's All the Hubbub, Bub? Part 1

E-mail Print PDF

So much in life is unpredictable.  It is oddly comforting and miraculous to know that we can, in this country, still generate an enormous amount of heat with so little light being shed.

Missouri, Indiana, and New Hampshire are the latest places to have played footsie with bills getting Creationism jammed into public schools for instruction and review, on the same footing as Evolutionary sciences do, as just one more menu choice for the kids.

Have a Heart, Willya.

E-mail Print PDF

Happy St. Valentine's Day -- named after a priest or bishop, maybe, one of 14 or so, and quizzically, too, there having been no official allowances made for any holy man to hand over his heart of hearts to any live being on this Earth.  In any event, please have a heart, will ya, so we can all take a breath and just share the love for a bit.

We would do just as well to wish ourselves hearts bearing the full resources that the valens name bestows:  worthy, strong, powerful. We may need them, these traits, where we're all headed.  God knows we can use all the love we can muster and gather down here, on this cuckoo and confused orb we're all riding, guided and steered by crazy-clever primates, "Planet of the Apes" indeed, and in spades.

Happy Commemoration Day!

Dang! As animal lovers, we already missed Duck-billed Platypus Day, on the second. The good news is we're in time for International Polar Bear Day, on the 27th.  Cephalopod Awareness Day is still a long way off, though -- October the 8th, this year.

Avast! There's Talk Like a Pirate Day, days for equinoxes and solstices, phases of the moon, birthdays for countries and people, days to honor sacrifice and service, special days to be grateful for family and for love -- Oh! Special Safety Tip!  Tuesday is Valentine's Day!

The Last Racketeers - Epilogue

E-mail Print PDF

Back in 1933, an authentic American hero in every possible sense of that word stepped in to rescue the nation from traitors plotting to pull it all down -- Constitution, Bill of Rights, dreams of the Founders, everything, all of us, every last bit of it.

The traitors here were bankers, financiers, moneyed interests. An ocean away, their German peers advanced their own man to the front of the feed trough:  Adolph Hitler, by name.

The Last Racketeers - Part 3

E-mail Print PDF

"War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious," wrote two-star, Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler in 1935.  He was a two-time Congressional Medal of Honor winner, and rescuer of the United States from overthrow by fascist bankers and financiers.

The Racket continues.  War is such a profitable plaything for capitalists, all the high priests of the monetary system agree:  Can't wait for the next one, can't wait for the next spree! They are never careful what they wish for; no need -- their hands cover all the controls.
