Three law enforcement officers in Washington, D.C., were injured by gunfire Wednesday when a suspect barricaded inside a residence began shooting at them, the city's police department said.
A fourth officer was also injured at the scene, but not by gunfire, the Metropolitan Police Department's Hannah Glasgow told USA TODAY.
The individual was still refusing to come out of the residence and is continuing to fire their weapon from inside, police said as of Wednesday afternoon.
The police officers were injured by gunfire, the department said, after they tried to enter a residence in the southeast part of the city to serve an arrest warrant at around 7:30 a.m. All three officers' injuries are non-life-threatening, the police department said. The fourth officer's injury is also minor, Glasgow said.
All four injured officers have been transferred to a local hospital for treatment.
The residence where the suspect remains barricaded is on the 5000 block of Hanna Place near the city's Marshall Heights and Benning Ridge neighborhoods.
