Dear Friend and Supporter:

As you will see below, there is much cause for alarm regarding this election year and there is a need to protect the rights of each person to vote. We must act now, and I write to urge you to participate in our efforts to monitor the election this year. We need your help because many more election monitors are needed to protect all of the districts at risk.

Many of our Democratic candidates are in very close elections and despite every effort to Get Out the Vote, the only votes that will matter are those cast and counted. Some races will come down to the smallest margins and as always every vote counts. We believe that everything possible must be done to protect our right to vote -- it is the franchise that must survive for our country and our democracy to survive.

What Do You Need to Do?

The details are below, but simply, attend a mandatory training session, ask where you can be assigned on election day as a monitor, and protect the vote on the ground on November 7th -- votes cast and votes protected are the only ones counted. For example, in Westchester, contact Frank Streng via email at fstreng@m ccarthyfingar.com.

PROTECTING VOTING RIGHTS IN NEW YORK DEPENDS ON YOU!!!
Over the weekend, Republicans in Westchester challenged the right of over 5,000 voters to cast their ballot on Election Day. They did it in Ohio, they did it in Florida, and now they're trying to do it here. Don't let them!

If you haven't yet, please sign up at http://www.nydlc.org/live/signup.php to volunteer this election day, Nov. 7th. You can sign up for whole- or part-day shifts aiding voters at the polls. Below is a list of training sessions that you can attend to learn exactly how we protect voting rights - it is very important for you to attend a training session!
