Carl Icahn leaving Trump administrationActivist investor Carl Icahn has given up as position as “special adviser” to President Trump, leaving the administration of his good friend as it becomes increasingly embattled.

The 81-year-old businessman said Friday that he had received the commander-in-chief’s blessing to depart, and posted a letter saying that he “did not want partisan bickering about my role to in any way cloud your administration.”

Icahn was named as an adviser on regulatory matters in May, though the move raised ethical questions about whether he would benefit monetarily from serving the President in an unofficial role.
