Sheriff: 3 dead in New Mexico high school shooting

Aztec High School shootingAuthorities said three people are dead after a shooting at a New Mexico high school Thursday.

San Juan County Sheriff Ken Christesen told reporters that three people believed to be students died Thursday at Aztec High School. He said the shooter also was dead but didn't say whether the suspect was among the three.

Police said the suspect in the shooting at Aztec High School has been identified and is "no longer with us."

San Juan Sheriff's Office Capt. Bryce Current said the families of the shooting victims have been notified.

No specific details were released on the number of dead and injured. Students and staff  were being cleared from the campus as police search the school room by room.

The school is in the Four Corners region and is near the Navajo Nation.
