Four people were shot Thursday afternoon at Seattle Pacific University and police said the lone shooter was in custody.
One of the victims -- a man in his 20s -- has died. Three of the other victims were: a 20-year-old woman listed in critical condition; a 22-year-old man and a 24-year-old man.
The shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. in Otto Miller Hall, 3rd Avenue West and West Nickerson Street. A police source who was briefed on the investigation said a man tried to take the gun away from the shooter, which initially caused confusion with the number of shooters.
Police spokespeople initially said there were two suspects at large. A student said the gunman didn't say anything before he started shooting.
A department spokesman said the shooter was reloading after shooting four people. Staff then disarmed him.
The source also told KIRO 7 that a vehicle connected to the suspect was linked to the parent of a student. It was not immediately clear how that man obtained the vehicle.
The campus lockdown was lifted about 5 p.m. and lasted about an hour and a half. The people shot were taken to Harborview Medical Center.
