GOP congressman indicted for insider trading

Chris Collins indicted

An upstate New York congressman who was one of President Trump’s earliest and most robust supporters, was nabbed Wednesday on insider-trading charges, authorities said.

Christopher Collins, a Republican who represents the 27th District, was charged with tipping off others with nonpublic information about a drug that treats a form of multiple sclerosis, allowing them to illegally trade their stock ahead of time.

Collins sits on the board of directors for the Australian biotechnology company, Innate Immunotherapeutics, and was one of the firm’s biggest shareholders with nearly 17 percent stock.
